The solar cooker will be a device which some people should have in a period when severe desertification, drought and flood are rampant. Generally, most of people living in African countries use the firewood as their cooking fuel. To get the firewood, they cut a lot of trees and thus destroy the ecosystem unconsciously, thus helping to increase the desertification of Earth. In addition, when the firewood is burned, the carbon dioxide gas is discharged into the air, causing the climate changes. Under this situation, "Hot-Liner" is a good device. It is designed to convert the solar heat into the electricity, which then turns into the cooking heat. It would help about 3 billion people which are in poverty around the world upgrade their quality of life. "Hot-Liner" is a solar heat cooker which can charge itself using the solar heat and then use its charged energy for cooking. Having flexible battery, solar panel and long flexible solar cell, this "Hot-Liner" can change its shape depending on the intensity of flame and size of bowl. If two or more belts are connected, the temperature can be enhanced or the size of bowl can be increased and the heating begins from where the bowl and heating line contact. Inside the cooker is the flexible batter.

 

 

이번 서울국제디자인공모전 2010에는, 103개국에서 총 5,175명의 디자이너가 등록하였다. 이번 공모전은 미국, 유럽 등 디자인 선진국에서 수준 높은 디자이너들이 대거 참여하면서 명실공히 세계적 수준의 디자인 공모전으로 발돋움했다. 이탈리아의 마세프 디자인 공모전(MACEF DESIGN AWARD MASSIMO MARTINI 2010)에 88개국 3,121명, 일본의 닛산 디자인 공모전(THINK OUTSIDE THE PARKING BOX)에 96개국 3,059명이 등록을 한 것과 비교해도 오히려 높은 수치이다.

등록 현황을 살펴보면 해외 참가자가 3,878명, 국내 참가자가 1,297명으로 해외에서 더 많은 참여가 이루어졌고, 대륙별 참가자 수는 아시아 2,838명(국내 1,297명 포함), 유럽 1,358명, 북미 533명, 남미 229명, 오세아니아 116명, 아프리카 101명으로 집계되었다.

수상작 전시는 오는 9월 17일부터 10월 7일까지 서울디자인 한마당 2010 행사가 펼쳐지는 잠실종합운동장에서 진행될 예정이다. 수상자에게는 상장과 함께 총상금 약 3,100만원(26,000 USD)이 부상으로 주어지며, 황금해치상과 은해치상 수상자에게는 해외연수의 기회도 제공된다.
